Dear St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Congregation Members:
The Associate Pastor Search committee is thrilled to inform you we have recommended a candidate to the church council. All thirteen members of the council attended a meeting on Monday, June 23, 2008, and by unanimous decision, are prepared to present the pastor and compensation package to all of you.
We propose this occur in two phases. We would like to invite all of you to an Open House on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, in order to give you an opportunity to meet the candidate. The Associate Pastor candidate will address the congregation at 7:00 PM, but prior to and following that time, please feel free to introduce yourself to him and his wife. This will be your time to ask him a few brief questions, listen to others in a small group setting as they converse, or tell him what excites you about St. Mark’s and it’s ministry. Mutually, you will learn a bit about him and he will surely learn more about what makes St. Mark’s such a special and welcome place!
We will then hold a special congregational meeting on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 10:15 AM. The Associate Pastor candidate will not be available to attend that morning, due to his pastoral responsibilities at his current church. At that time, the search committee and council will present the Associate Pastor’s name to be voted upon, then will present the compensation package for vote as well. If all goes as we prayerfully expect, we anticipate a new Associate Pastor to be in place by Saturday, August 16, 2008.
The search committee is truly excited about the candidate we have to present to you. We pray that the Holy Spirit will work through each of you to validate that this process is a Spirit filled call. The committee has truly felt the hand of God throughout our time with this particular candidate. In case you are wondering, Pastor Dale knows this individual very well, and they are mutually energized at the prospect of working side by side to spread the eternal message of our Lord and Savior.
