Volunteer Opportunities at Saturday Evening Worship

 

If you would like to read the scripture at the Saturday evening 5:00 worship service, or serve as

a worship assistant, please contact Nancy Mancuso at 419-352-0194.  A “seasoned worship assistant” will serve right along with you for the first time.  The lists of responsibilities of the Saturday Worship assistants are as follows:

 

4:15 p.m.     

Prepare Communion elements (grape juice is in the communion room; bread is in the kitchen freezer marked for Saturday night).  Microwave the bread for 30 seconds.  Use the GOLD Communion service.  Put offering plates and the communion elements on the altar.

 

4:45 p.m.     

Greet people – hand out worship booklet, and bulletin. The worship booklets and clipboard for volunteers are stored inside the portable altar outside of the choir room. The bulletins should be located on top of the same portable altar.

                  

5:00 p.m.      Service

Please pass the clipboard

 

Count people to assure enough communion is prepared.  Later record the count in the drawer of the usher table (small notebook).

 

Be sure latecomers get books etc.

 

Offering 2 people will pass plates from the center aisle only.  Then wait at back pew until offertory is sung – watch for cue from pastor.

 

Serving communion – Stand on right (East) side of altar.

 

        1.  One person holds empty tray

        2.  One person holds tray with juice and hands out cup saying,

                         “The Blood of Christ shed for you”

 

Put away – after service (Service assistants and pastor)

 

a)       Communion trays, etc.

b)       Lectern stored in the North transept.

c)       Worship booklets on shelf with the With One Voice hymnals

d)       Collection plates remain on the altar.

e)       Place loose money and envelops in an envelope (these envelopes are located inside the altar).  Drop the large envelope with money through the slot in the money counting room located on the second floor of the Sunday School wing next to the elevator.  Keep the noisy offering in a separate envelope.

f)       Use Bristle Vacuum in communion room to clean up bread crumbs from the sanctuary.

g)       Doors – locked (Use the Allen Key located beside the door).

Be sure the door latches when it’s closed.  Please check the front doors in the gathering area and both south doors on the south side of the church by the parking lot.
