Alpha is an effective, low-key discipleship and evangelism program.  The Alpha course provides a unique opportunity for Christians, non-believers, and skeptics to investigate together the message of Jesus Christ and His relevance in their lives.  Members of St. Mark's are encouraged to invite a friend (especially those with no church connection) to join them as we explore the Christian faith more deeply in the relaxed, non-threatening setting.   More information can be found on Alpha Ministries at:  Alpha Ministries USA 

Good food, warm fellowship, large group presentations, and small group discussions provide everyone the opportunity to make friends and to share ideas in an inviting, comfortable environment!  The trained lay leaders provide a welcome and gentle facilitation of the discussions.  No question is treated as too simple or too hostile.

The complete 8-10-week Alpha course requires a substantial time commitment, but testimony from those whose lives have been touched and transformed by Alpha speak of its power as a tool for helping Christians mature in their faith and for reaching out to the lost in Christ's name.  The Alpha course is supported by all mainline Christian denominations and has been completed by more than 3 million people all over the world during the past six years.
