Inreach/Outreach Ministry Team

St. Mark's has been chartered by the Boy Scouts of America to have Boy Scout Troop 345 and Cub Scout Pack 345, as an integral part of our own youth program.

For over 90 years, the Boy Scouts of America has continued to instill values in our young people and to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime.  Scouting builds character.  It's programs cultivate leadership skills, help strengthen families and provide positive adult role models, help create strong personal values and respect for others, provide a positive sense of self worth, confidence and usefulness, encourages respect of the environment, and encourages young people to "Do Their Best".  Overall, Scouting enhances the quality of life for our youth.

The aims for Scouting fall into three areas:  Character development, Citizenship Training and Mental and Physical Training.  Scouting's values can be incorporated into a boy's home, school, and religious community, adding to all three, and in some cases, filling in where family, school, or religious support is lacking.

The Scout oath is often repeated by Scouts and they do try to live up to their oath - "On my Honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law:  To help other people at all times;  To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight."
