Sunday Morning Communion Worship Assistants:
Communion is served the first Sunday of every month as well as on holidays and special celebrations of the church. Lay volunteers of the congregation assist with distribution of the sacraments after the sacraments are consecrated by the Pastor.
There are typically five lay volunteers who assist the Pastor. The Pastor and two assistants administer the sacraments (wafer and wine) on one side of the sanctuary while three other assistants administer them on the other side of the sanctuary.
A schedule of volunteers is put together and sent through the mail to lay volunteers a couple of times each year. A letter which includes instructions is included with the schedule. A short training session is offered for those people interested in helping with communion distribution. For more information, or to volunteer, contact the church office at 419-353-9305.
Saturday Evening Communion Worship Assistants:
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church holds a Saturday evening worship experience every Saturday evening from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Two lay volunteers assist with this service by preparing communion, passing out the worship booklet used during the service, collecting the offering, and help the Pastor administer communion by passing out the wine. Typically, the worship assistants are asked to arrive by 4:30 p.m. to begin preparation for the service. A letter is sent to the assistants which provides step by step instructions to prepare the communion service, where to find the worship booklets, etc.
Those people willing to serve as Saturday Worship Service Assistants sign up for a particular Saturday(s) on a clipboard that is passed around during the Saturday evening service.
